How It All Began
This Creativity and Innovation Project demonstrates the visual story telling of second-generation Americans attending American university through this wide portfolio of photographs and interviews. I was initially inspired to create this piece, because of the many unique practices and backgrounds of my close friends at school.
Although the University of Connecticut is an in-state university, I have found myself seeking friendships with people whose backgrounds are much different than my own. The project was originally going to consist of around five interviews with a few shots of close friends. Once I began explaining my idea to others, I got over 200 responses from people at several universities who were eager to become involved. Then came Gen2U...
FAQ
Can I get involved?
Absolutely, I would love to hear your story and make your voice heard. The responses have been overwhelming with the number of people who want to become involved. For that I am grateful. You can reach out on the contact page!
what is the project timeline?
The planning for Gen2U took several weeks to develop during its ideation phase. Preparation with the shooting, interview, and transcription process took five weeks from March through April 2018 with the last two weeks being in web development.
Despite the past due date for the lecture assignment, I am still continuing this project now that I have exceeded my goal due to personal motivation and expressed interest from others.
what are future plans for Gen2U?
Next month, in May 2018 I plan to take the project to other universities outside of the University of Connecticut. The next shot locations are Ithaca College and Fordham University.
